The Thai Heart Journal - the official publication of the Heart Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King - brings readers information in the field of clinical cardiovascular medicine. Importantly, the Journal serves as a channel for the continue medical education for cardiologist, internist, nurses and health care staff who are talking care of patients with heart disease in Thailand. The Journal publishes review articles, original articles, and short reports every 3 month.
The Thai Heart Journal accepts submissions of original manuscripts which have not be published elsewhere prior to submission (except in the abstract form or preliminary report). The publication must be approved by all authors, and must not be simultaneously under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Once the article is accepted, authors will be asked to transfer copyright to the Heart Association of Thailand. A form facilitating transfer of copyright will be provided. As the copyright is transferred to the Heart Association of Thailand, the manuscript could not be published elsewhere in the same form, in any languages, without the written permission from the Heart Association of Thailand.
The corresponding author involved with a specific manuscript can submit via email (preferred) or hard copy by mailing services. If the hard copy version is chosen, text and picture files are preferably on CD. The manuscript must be prepared as discussed below and submitted to:
All text, references, figure legends, and tables should be typewritten in English and prepared in a format to be printed on paper size 8.5 × 11 inches, leaving 1 inch for all borders. All material except figures or media files should be in 1 double-spaced electronic document (preferably a Microsoft Word). The figures and media files should be submitted separately. Even though figures are already inserted in the text file, the authors have to provide separate file(s) for each figure to ensure a high-resolution quality (see below).
Original study should include the following section: 1) title page; 2) abstract; 3) text; 4) acknowledgement; 5) references; 6) figure legends; 7)Tables; 8) figures; and 9) abstract (Thai, optional).
Please include a title page with your submission. The title should be short and precise. Running title is allow but has to be less than 25 words. Then listed each author’s name (first, middle initials, last name) and affiliation/institution. The contact information of a corresponding author including name, mailing address, telephone, fax number and e-mail address should be provided. Number of page should start at title page as page 1.
Abstract is no more than 250 words. It should consist of background, methods, results, and conclusion. The abstract format of the review article is flexible. Authors have to select 3-4 keywords for the manuscript.
Text should including introduction, methods, results and discussion. Abbreviation is allowed but should limit to no more than 5 per manuscript and initially spell out followed by abbreviation in parenthesis. Authors should try not to begin sentence with number and try to use SI unit and generic name of medication.
In appropriate places in the manuscript, a statement that “the research protocol was approved by the relevant institutional review boards or ethics committees and that all human participants gave written informed consent” must be noted.
If applicable, the list of contributions, disclosures, collaborators, and funder/sponsor can be included at the end of the text of the manuscript but before the references.
Reference should be limited to 30. References must be double-spaced and numbered in numerical order as stated in the text. All authors must be listed if there are 6 or fewer authors. If there are 7 or more authors, the first 3 authors must be listed and followed by “et al”. Reference format must follow the pattern mentioned in AMA citation style. Use Index Medicus abbreviations for journals that are indexed. For citing other references e.g., websites, e-mail, CDs, or databases, please use format according to the AMA Manual of Style.
Figures must be cited in numerical order. The figure legends should be prepared on a separate page but in the same electronic file with text. Each panel of multi-panel figures, using capital letter A,B,C, etc. Please explain any labels, arrows, arrowheads, or other markings on the figures.
Prepare table with double-space (including any footnotes). Each table should be separated on a separate page but in the same electronic file with text. Please provide a title of each the table. For Original study, there is a limit of 5 figures and tables (total) per manuscript. Additional figures and tables may be considered as a supplement material.
Even though figures are already inserted in the text file, the authors have to provide a separate file for each figure to ensure a high-resolution quality (see below). Legends for all figures should be included in the file with the text and should not appear on the figures. The figure must be original. All figures should be high resolution and sharp in detail. Figure will not be printed in color.
Acceptable formats for pictures, photos, and figures are JPG, GIF and, TIF. The resolution must be at least 300 dpi. Please refer to each picture by matching the figure with a digital file “figure 1, figure 2, etc)
The authors are encouraged to submit multimedia files (movies and audio), which will be supplement online with the electronic version of the article.
It is optional for a manuscript to have an abstract in Thai.
The original review article that discuss important topic are considered for publication. The manuscript structure are flexible upon authors. Recommended length: 3000-5000 words. The title page and abstract are required. See above for the instruction for preparing a title page and abstract. There is a limit of 5 figures and tables (total) per review articles. Additional figures and tables may be considered as supplements. Reference should be limited to 50. The manuscript should be prepare the same way as original study (see above at manuscript preparation)
We are welcome and encourage authors to submit a short clinical and technical reports including interesting clinical case report, case series, preliminary report of the original study, report from scientific meeting and letter to editor for consideration for publication at the Thai Heart Journal. The structured of the manuscript are flexible but the manuscript should be constructive and educational. The abstract is not required. The length should be 1000-1500 words (not including references). Only 3 tables and/or figures are allowed. The number of references are limited to 5. The manuscript should be prepare the same way as original study (see above at manuscript preparation)
This section contains one-page description (less than 1,000 words) of essential patient clinical information and findings from image(s) or ECG. Author could follow the instruction of short report to prepare the manuscript.
